1. What are the SACAs?
The South African Cybersecurity Awards (SACAs) are a national recognition platform hosted by CyberM8 Initiative NPC. The awards honour individuals, organisations, and initiatives making outstanding contributions to cybersecurity in South Africa.
2. Who can enter or be nominated?
Any individual, organisation, startup, academic, civil society group, or government entity working within or contributing to South Africa’s cybersecurity ecosystem is eligible, provided they meet the category-specific criteria.
3. Is there a cost to submit a nomination?
No. Nominations are completely free.
4. Can I nominate myself or my organisation?
Yes. Self-nominations and third-party nominations are both accepted, as long as the nomination form and supporting documents are complete and accurate.
5. What are the award categories?
There are 11 award categories, including Best Cybersecurity Start-up, Cybersecurity Advocacy, Best Local Product, Diversity & Inclusion, and more. You can view the full list on www.cybersecurityawards.co.za/categories.
6. How do I submit a nomination?
Visit www.cybersecurityawards.co.za/nominations and complete the online nomination form. You will be asked to provide a motivation, supporting documents, and optional references.
7. What is the deadline for nominations?
The deadline for submitting nominations is 19 September 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.
8. How are the winners selected?
An independent judging panel composed of industry experts, academics, and civil society leaders will evaluate nominations using category-specific criteria. All judging decisions are final.
9. When and where will the winners be announced?
Winners will be announced at the official SACAs Gala Dinner on 31 October 2025 at The Innovation Hub, Pretoria, during the Cybersecurity Indaba.
10. Is it necessary to attend the gala to win?
No. While attending is highly encouraged for networking and visibility, it is not a requirement for winning an award.
